Finding and borrowing resources
You can search for books and materials using the UW Libraries Online Catalogue.
To access WNE Library Collection directly from UW Libraries Online Catalogue find Location tag on left side of menu and select Wydział Nauk Ekonomicznych.
The following labels (tags) have been used to describe the Library collections and procedures for borrowing books:
- Location BUW WNE Wolny Dostęp ( BUW WNE Open Stacks ) means direct access to stacks for browsing and selecting books. BUW Open Stacks can be found on the second floor of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) adjacent to the Social Sciences and Anthropology Collections (Plan 2). Most of the WNE UW Library Open Stacks collection is arranged on the shelves by shelf mark numbers, with the exception of textbook collection which is organized in an alphabetical order (by title).
To borrow a book from WNE UW Library Open Stacks select a book from an Open Stacks shelf, take it to Room 137 located on the first floor of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) (Plan 1) and staff will issue the book to you.
Books in WNE Library Open Stacks designated as reference only (orange tag) cannot be borrowed.
- Location BUW WNE-pokój 137 means that the book is available in Room 137 located on the first floor of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) (Plan 1). To borrow a book from this location go to Room 137 and ask a librarian on duty for assistance.
- Location BUW WNE Magazyn (BUW WNE Closed Stacks) means that book is held in closed stacks, i.e. it is housed in special storage areas not accessible to users. If you need access to a Closed Stacks item, please request the item via email first firstname.lastname@example.org or fill in the call slip available in Room 137 located on the first floor of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) (Plan 1) and submit it to a librarian on duty.
Closed Stacks request limits and delivery times
Expected time of delivery: max 1 hour.
Students may place a maximum of 5 Closed Stacks requests at a time.
Once processed Closed Stacks requested items will be kept automatically for 3 days
Books are available for 30 day loan. It is important to return items on loan by the due date.
Lost items will be subject to a charge for the full replacement cost of the item.
Loan entitlements ( and loan periods)
Loan limits may vary according to different types of library user.
Undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters) students: 5 items at a time for up to 30 days
Erasmus students: 1 item at a time for up to 14 days
Postgraduate (PhD) students: 10 items at a time for up to 90 days
Staff: 10 items at a time for up to 90 days
The book loan period can be extended for up to 30 days from the initial due date. The book renewal must be done in person or via email (email@example.com) before the end of the loan period.
